Ask Don: Reviewing the Brand New PCGS Holder

Posted on June 2, 2015 by

Two weeks ago, I introduced the next generation PCGS holder and it was very well received. Today I’d like to answer some of the questions that were asked about testing, materials, and combatting counterfeiters.

Is there going to be an opportunity to re holder the old style holders at a reduced fee?

I thought the video was done very well until you put your hand into the fish tank. That’s a no-no…please use a sanitary net to retrieve the slab in the future. It will be less stressful on the fish and reduce the risk of contaminating the water.

I’m curious how this holder will be any different from the last holder that you’ve always used?
    Is it the Same size?
Does the new slab contain security strips that we can test? or can only PCGS test them?
What are the most popular coins being counterfeited?
Can you show a picture of a counterfeit slab and how we can identify them?
What prevents counterfeiters from just continuing to make the old style holder?

Hello, I just had a question. In these new holders, Can you leave your coin(s) in these holders forever without anything happening to them. The reason why i ask, Everything i read says “long term”. Is long term for a specified amount of time? or forever… please clarify. Thank you.
