Ask Don: Variety Pricing Explained

Greetings! As I’ve said before I enjoy learning about a coin or a series as much as finally adding one to my collection. Knowing the story behind the coin adds dimension and depth to collecting any series. Part of that story is varieties. In this week’s video, we talk about varieties and a short cut you can use to determine which varieties PCGS considers major and includes in basic grading versus varieties that we consider minor and additional to grading.

    Why do you have to become a member of pgcs to get my coins graded.
    I’ve heard so much good things about this grading company, this place is be of the top have coins done at.
    Those other grading company don’t tell you the value of your coin.

    I have a 1926 Lincoln penny where its missing most of the N on the One of the reverse. Looks like the dye wasn’t completely filled as only the left corner of the N is visible. Is this considered a minor mint error?
